Keiffer Mitchell, Jr.
Keiffer J. Mitchell, Jr. (b. September 28, 1967) is a chief legislative officer for Maryland Governor Larry Hogan (R). Mitchell also served as the acting chief of staff for Gov. Hogan, from August 2020 until Oct. 25, 2020. [1]
He is a former Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 44 from 2011 to 2015.
Career
Early education and career
Mitchell earned his B.A. in political science from Emory University in 1990 and his J.D. from the University of the District of Columbia School of Law in 1994. His professional experience includes working as a senior and special advisor to the governor, an attorney, law clerk for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, a small business banking officer at Wachovia Bank, business development officer, and history teacher at the Boys' Latin School.[1]
Larry Hogan chief of staff
Gov. Larry Hogan appointed Mitchell acting chief of staff on August 17, 2020, following Roy McGrath's resignation.[2] As reported by CBS Baltimore, Hogan said of Mitchell, "Keiffer is a widely respected leader who has served our administration with distinction since day one. He has a proven track record for bringing people together and working across the aisle, and I thank him for stepping up to serve at this important time.”[2] Mitchell left the role of chief of staff after Amelia Chasse Alcivar's appointment to the role in Oct. 2020.
