Keisha McClish Couts was born in Wichita, Kansas. She graduated from the National Career Institute in 1996. She earned a bachelor's degree from American Intercontinental University in 2008 and a graduate degree from Friends University in 2017. Her career experience includes working as an entrepreneur.[1]

Keisha McClish Couts currently resides in Park City, KS with husband. I am dedicated to serving our community, whether through my work as a Mental Health Specialist and Mental Health First Aid Responder to farmers in rural and urban areas. My involvement with Common Ground Producers and Growers, Sunflower Community Action and Center for Popular Democracy has kept me deeply involved in initiatives that make a real difference in people's lives. I believe in empowering the communities to overcome inequality, lack of freedom, and marginalization. In 2012 I became a cosmetology instructor where I trained and coached students to develop skills as a cosmetologist and to also transform lives. My passion, in every aspect of my career, is to empower and coach each person as well as others to be transformed by the renewing of their minds. I enjoy seeing the whole person evolve. I also identify myself as a servant-leader, entrepreneur, life-coach, and grassroots contributor. With 8 plus years as a Marriage and Family Therapist, that specializes in crisis and suicide prevention, I am passionate to serve the hardworking community of Kansas. I enjoy time volunteering as a member of NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness), Mental Health first Aid Responder, ASIST suicide affiliate, member of National and Kansas Farmers Union, Breakthrough Homeless organization and ICT SOS (human trafficking organization).
  • My decision to run for State House Representative for District 91 is driven by a deep commitment to addressing the needs of our community and carrying on a mantle my grandmother and grandfather and mother, have given to me to care about our communities. Throughout my career, I have sharpened my skills in community outreach, program development, and stakeholder engagement

As the oldest granddaughter summers were spent taking care of my younger siblings and cousins. I have not quit. Currently, I have my nieces and nephews to look after during the summer months.
Yes, I believe it is important to build relationships in general. Throughout centuries and being trained as a marriage and family therapist relationships can provide benefits such as emotional support, self-discovery, personal development, enhanced social skills, improves mental health and shared experiences are just to name a few benefits. Relationships often expand your social circle and providing a broader support network. We can also review how conflict resolution is a positive. Navigating disagreements in a relationship can enhance your ability to manage conflicts in areas of life. Being part of a relationship can provide a sense of belonging and reduce feelings of loneliness.
