Keith Hall (Director of the Congressional Budget Office)
Keith Hall is the former director of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).[1] Hall was appointed on February 27, 2015, by Speaker of the House John Boehner and President pro tempore of the Senate Orrin Hatch to replace Douglas Elmendorf.[1] His term ended on January 1, 2019, but he continued serving in a temporary capacity until June 3, 2019, when budget committee leaders appointed his replacement, Phillip Swagel.[2]
Biography
Hall graduated from the University of Virginia and earned a master's degree and Ph.D. in economics from Purdue University. He worked at the International Trade Commission for 10 years before moving around the Department of Commerce, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the Department of the Treasury.[3][4] Hall has also been a faculty member at the University of Arkansas and the University of Missouri.[5]
