Biography

Keith Henry was born in Galveston, Texas. He earned a bachelor's degree from Buffalo State College in 2009 and a graduate degree from Texas Southern University in 2012. His career experience includes working as a government consultant and educator.[1]

Commissioner Keith Henry recently served as Commissioner of the City of Texas City District. Commissioner Henry’s accomplishments include being named a 40 under 40 honoree for his native Galveston County and a 40 under 40 honoree for the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats. Moreover, Commissioner Henry has received several other accolades, such as City of Texas City Cultural Excellence Honoree and the For the People award in Galveston County for supporting substance abuse and Mental health, Galveston Man Of Purpose honoree, and A City of Texas City Cultural Excellence award. Commissioner Henry and his Wife Dionne are inducted into Galveston’s 1st African-American museum. Commissioner Henry holds a Bachelor of Arts & Letters in English/Minor in Journalism from the Buffalo State University(Buffalo, NY); A Masters of Public Administration from Texas Southern University; and is Ph.D. (c) in Public Policy. Commissioner Keith Henry and his wife Dionne have three children and two puppies.
  • I seek to become your next state representative of District 23, as I will be the legislative voice for our district's citizens. Throughout my nearly two decades of public service, I have been an active leader in responding to many of our district’s challenges. Moreover, I am always boots on the ground for education, access to mental health policy, public safety, substance abuse prevention, equal pay, jobs, and ensuring that our coastal spine is protected. As your representative, I will collaborate with local leaders, clergy, and communities to ensure everyone’s voice is heard. Therefore, I will ardently fight in the state legislature on behalf of the citizens of District 23!
  • Moreover, Commissioner Henry's wife, Dionne, has an ardent passion for supporting single mothers and advocating for women's rights. Correspondingly, Commissioner Henry is motivated by the imperative to look his daughters in the eye and candidly tell them they can be a CEO and make a comparable salary to their brother when they grow up. Additionally, Commissioner Henry's shares an indomitable will to answer his son when asked, were his father's initiatives influential relative to assisting the least vulnerable among us.

I have over twelve years of government experience at every level, in addition to professional leadership experience in nonprofit and education. Notably, my public administration experience includes fiscal and governmental affairs leadership roles. Keith Henry was raised by a single Mom who worked multiple jobs to provide for him and his twin brother. Being raised in a disenfranchised community served as a motivator for Keith Henry to champion a more equitable society. Keith Henry has worked at every level of government for nearly two decades. recently serving as Commissioner of the City of Texas City, District 1. Keith Henrys' accomplishments include being published in multiple publications, named 40 under 40 honoree for his native Galveston County, and a 40 under 40 honoree for the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats. Keith Henry holds a bachelor's from the State University of New York College at Buffalo (Buffalo, NY), A Master of Public Administration from Texas Southern University, and is near completion of his Ph.D. in Public Policy. Keith Henry and his wife Dionne are natives of Galveston County, TX, and have three children, Alahna, Davion, and Dabria; their two puppies are Axel and Sassy.
