Lyons ran for election to the Eighth Judicial District Court.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 43.3 percent of the vote. He competed against incumbent Arthur Ritchie.

Lyons received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1986 and his J.D. degree from the Willamette University College of Law in 1991.[2]
