Pugh participated in the following survey conducted by the Marshfield News-Herald. The questions provided by the Marshfield News-Herald appear bolded, and Pugh's responses follow below.

Why are you seeking election?

I have talked about running for elected office for some time and decided school board would be a good place. I have a direct concern over what happens in the district, we have three children in the school system. I am also concerned with the current climate with which school systems are dealing, vouchers and charter school. In Marshfield a sports complex may be the next big expenditure that is voted on and I would like to make sure that everyone is informed and knowledgeable.[4]
—Keith Pugh (2017)[5]

Why should voters elect you?

It is a civic duty to run for office. It is the job of elected officials to serve the people and to be held accountable. Open government is a must and a need to have a successful democracy.[4]
—Keith Pugh (2017)[5]

What do you want to accomplish if elected?

Our school system is one of the best academically in the state as well as in the country. That must continue. We need to retain quality teachers and staff. Also, help the public decide the best course of action on a new sports facility.[4]
—Keith Pugh (2017)[5]

What is your background in local government?

This is my first time running for elected office in local government.[4]
