Maricopa County Justice of the Peace East Mesa District

Keith Russell (Republican Party) was a judge for East Mesa District of the Maricopa County Justice Court in Arizona. He left office on December 31, 2021.

Russell (Republican Party) ran for re-election for the East Mesa District judge of the Maricopa County Justice Court in Arizona. He won in the general election on November 6, 2018.

Russell was appointed on June 5, 2013, by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors to fill the vacancy of Mark Chiles after Chiles' resignation following a citation for shoplifting.[1][2] He was elected to the Maricopa County Justice Courts in 2014.[3] His term expired on January 6, 2019.[4]

Russell retired from the Maricopa County Justice Court in December 2021. Justice Fred Arnett was appointed to fill the vacancy.[5]

Judges of the Arizona Justice Courts are each elected to four-year terms. The elections for this court are partisan contested elections.[6] To serve on this court, a judge must be at least 18 years old, a state resident, a qualified voter in their precinct and able to read and write English. A law degree is not required.

Russell ran for election to the Maricopa County Justice Courts.
Primary: He was successful in the Republican primary on August 26, 2014, receiving 61.4 percent of the vote. He competed against Kate J. Alivarius and Sean Kelly.
General: He was unopposed in the general election on November 4, 2014. [3][7] 

Career

Russell was the owner of his own real estate appraisal business for over 20 years. In 2004, he was elected as the Maricopa County assessor, and was re-elected in 2008 and 2012. He was appointed to the Maricopa County Justice Courts on June 5, 2013, by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.[8]
