Keith Spoto

Keith Peter Spoto is a judge of the Tenth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. He was appointed to this position by former Governor Charlie Crist in April of 2008. He was re-elected to a new six-year term in 2016.[1][2][3]
Biography and Education
Spoto was born at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX on April 19, 1961. He received his B.A. degree from Wake Forest University in 1983 and his J.D. degree from the University of Florida College of Law in 1986.[1][4]
Career
Spoto began his career in 1986 as a private practice lawyer in Orlando. He then worked as an assistant state attorney in 10th Judicial Circuit from 1992 through 2001. He served as a judge of the Polk County Court from 2002 until his appointment to the circuit court in 2008.[1][4]
Elections
2016
Florida's 20 circuit courts all had seats up for election in 2016. Of the 151 seats up for election, 125 saw only one candidate file for the election. The unopposed races were canceled and the sole candidates were automatically elected. Of the 26 opposed races, only 10 saw more than two candidates file. [5]
