Campaign themes
2016
Strahan's campaign website highlighted the following issues:
“ |
Border Security:
Illegal Immigration: Understand the incentives and reasons that people are crossing the border so as to combat that draw/incentive system that the federal/state governments use – most importantly, end the welfare state and stop stealing from Texans to give to anyone, including illegal immigrants. Local Control in Education: My mother taught public school for 44 years, my sister currently teaches, and I taught elementary school in the district. I know how important education is to the future of Texas. That is why I support greater local control over the education of our children, as well as significantly reducing the burden of standardized Life: Life begins at conception. Thus, innocent life from conception to death should be protected and valued for everyone. Federalism: The 9th and 10th Amendments are not just words on a paper, but principles by which a free society thrives. It’s time for Texans to start asserting our rights against government overreach, particularly the federal government. I will fight for the sovereignty of Texans in the Texas House.[1] |
