Collapse all
|I spent the first 15 years of my career as a patrol officer. I was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to the 911 center where I was the operations commander of over 120 employees.
After that four year assignment, I returned to the street, and was a night time patrol supervisor. After several years as a Sergeant, I was promoted to lieutenant. I served as a watch commander (leading 75 men and women) and then I was assigned to our training unit. There I helped develop our de-escalation and crisis intervention training. This training served as a model for departments all across America, and I had the honor of teaching de-escalation and crisis intervention for the US Department of Justice. We will never know how many lives were saved by this necessary training, but I feel confident countless lives were saved.
After my many years as a lieutenant, I was promoted to captain. I was assigned as the night duty commander. This meant I was the highest ranking officer in the city at night. I was in charge of all operations, leading hundreds of officers, dozens of sergeants, and many lieutenants. Later I led the SWAT team when we cleared out the unlawful CHAZ/CHOP zone during the "summer of love".
I have the experience necessary to lead the Pierce County Sheriff department. It's time for a new look and perspective.- Crime is at an all-time high, and moral in law enforcement is at an all-time low. I plan to reverse that in the Pierce County Sheriff Office.
- Judges and prosecutors are releasing violent offenders back onto our streets. I will hold them accountable when they do this. I will publicly shame them if necessary.
- Over 100,000 Americans died from opioid overdoses last year. Almost everyone knows someone or a family member affected by this. We will take a firm position to arrest and put drug dealers in jail.
