Three of the seven seats on the Keller Independent School District school board were up for general election on May 7, 2016. Place 1 incumbent Jim Stitt faced challenger Kellie McGee in the race. Place 2 incumbent Karina Davis was the sole candidate to file in the election, while Place 3 incumbent Cindy Lotton faced challenger Kris Kittle. There was no primary.[1] Incumbents Stitt, Lotton, and Davis all won their re-election bids to retain their seats on the board. Challengers McGee, in Place 1, and Kittle, in place 3, were defeated. Write-in candidate Mark Holt won a small percentage of the votes in Place 2.[2]

Voter and candidate information

The Keller ISD Board of Trustees is composed of seven members who are elected by district to three-year terms in specifically numbered seats. Candidates file to run for a specific seat, but all voters in the school district are eligible to vote for every seat up for election. Places 1, 2 and 3 were scheduled for general election on May 7, 2016. There was no primary election.[3]

Candidates running for the school board had to be a United States citizen, a resident of Texas for at least 12 months, and a resident of the district for at least six months. Candidates also had to be 18 years of age or older and registered to vote.[3]
