Kelli Grant has been involved in local government work for the past twenty-two years. She has worked both directly with clients and in administrative roles in multiple county department offices.

Kelli currently serves on several boards including the Sedgwick County Corrections Advisory Board and the Wichita State University Internal Review Board as the prison research expert. She recently stepped down from the Diversity Inclusion and Civil Rights Board for the City of Wichita in order to run for public office.

Kelli received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in criminal justice from Wichita State University where she previously taught courses. Kelli has been involved with education programs regarding race and implicit bias with her local church and has been a frequent guest speaker for events and classes on the topics of social inequality, policing, corrections, gender issues in criminal justice, and family violence.

Kelli has worked to facilitate policy change through community activism and is focused on system and community improvement.

  • Taxes. We can find ways to pay for services without raising taxes. Sedgwick County would benefit from a grants department with dedicated efforts on acquiring and maintaining grants county-wide. There is money available and Sedgwick County could increase grants revenue to shore up programs that are currently struggling.
  • Human Infrastructure. Our communities deserve a functional government. We know that County employees are working hard, and we need to critically examine the hundreds of empty positions so that services can run efficiently. We need to attract and retain talent to deliver the best services possible.
  • Mental Health and Public Safety. These systems are linked and both overwhelmed with individuals involved in both places. We must take a look at innovative ways, like specialty courts, to address pressing issues. Domestic violence is a significant problem in our community, Sedgwick County leads the state in domestic violence cases. Sedgwick County needs to examine domestic violence funding and consider a specialty domestic violence court.
Protecting the NO Vote in District 1 is also important to Kelli. District 1 voters sent a clear message on August 2 that they do not want their personal freedoms regarding bodily autonomy left to politicians. I agree and will work to protect access to healthcare in Sedgwick County.

Domestic violence and women's issues are important to Kelli. Sedgwick County is reporting the highest number of domestic violence cases in the state of Kansas. We must do better. We need to re-examine funding for domestic violence providers in our community, and look at ways to better address this such as a domestic violence court.

Economic development is driven by human infrastructure. Sedgwick County has extreme vacancy rates which impact services and outcomes. Hard working employees deserve to work in a staffed environment with all the tools they need to do their jobs, and Kelli is passionate about retaining talent at Sedgwick County.
