I grew up in a rural farming community in Wyoming. I own two small businesses in the Homer area and employ nine people. I've served on the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly for 6 years, most recently as Assembly President. I've lived in Homer for 18 years and raised a family here. Alaska has been so good to me. I want to give back to this beautiful state and be part of the solution to the problems we're facing. I am excited to bring my local government experience to Juneau and lead our district with respect for everyone.
  • I will defend public education from the cuts that threaten to close local schools. A well educated workforce is needed as we move through the next 50 years of our state's growth.
  • I will help our economy recover by supporting small business and promoting new industries. Small business is an economic driver in many of our Peninsula communities. We deserve a stable fiscal plan in order to attract new and diverse businesses to grow our economies.
  • I will protect our fisheries by advocating for science-based management and protecting this renewable resource.
Politics is one of those things that, when it works right, nobody notices. Teachers get paid, roads get plowed, and you get your Permanent Fund Dividend. And when it doesn't work? Even though politics can completely change our lives, the average Alaskan feels like they can do very little to fix things. I want to serve you because my passion is solving those problems. I work hard so that teachers can keep teaching, you can get to work safely and we continue to share Alaska's oil wealth with its people.
The ability to listen to everyone, treat everyone with respect and find solutions to issues that affect our State.
Representing my constituents concerns and finding fair solutions to difficult issues.
Most certainly. It is difficult to get anything done with unnecessary divisions keeping us from doing our jobs.
Jay Hammond. He was particularly good at bringing both sides together for the betterment of Alaskans.
