Kelly Luther is a judge for the Third Judicial District (Place 2) in Mississippi. He was elected to the court on November 25, 2014, for a term commencing on January 1, 2015, and expiring on December 31, 2018.[1][2]

Luther ran for election to the Third Judicial District.
General: He faced Shirley C. Byers and J. Kizer Jones in the general election on November 4, 2014.Luther earned 37.1% of the votes in the general election. Because no candidate received over 50% of the general election votes, Kelly Luther and Shirley C. Byers, the top two candidates, competed in a runoff on November 25, 2014. Luther won decisively in the runoff, bringing in 76.3% of the vote, compared to Byers' 23.7%.[1] 

Education

Luther received his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi and his J.D. degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law.[3][4]

Career

From 1996 until his election to the Third Judicial District in 2014, Luther served as an assistant district attorney for the 3rd Circuit District Attorney’s Office. He also previously served as a county prosecuting attorney for Pontotoc County and as a city judge for Pontotoc.[3][5]
