The individual is elected by the community to represent the community needs, concerns and issues in Tallahassee and be the vocal advocate for residents by taking action on the specific issues of this district and utilize the mechanisms of the legislature to bring needed resources to the communities. In District 30 these needs include addressing gaps in healthcare services, funding for public school resources and educational training programs, funding water related issues around flood mitigation, wetland preservation, coastal shoreline protection programs and lagoon restoration. I would also like to work to enshrine women’s reproductive rights, bring climate change discussions back into policy and funding and co-sponsor the Healthy Florida Act and Harry T. and Harriette V. Moore Voting Rights Acts.
As the daughter of an Air Force veteran, I was first aware of the Persian Gulf War. As a child in grade school, though I did not understand the complex mechanisms or causation for this conflict, this was my first realization of the wider world and the impact of war on humanity.
