A recall effort in West University Place, Texas, against City Councilwoman Kellye Burke was initiated in April 2018. Petitioners began gathering signatures on April 14, 2018.[1]

Recall supporters initiated the recall effort after Burke was charged with a class C misdemeanor for disorderly conduct with abusive or vulgar language. Burke was alleged to have yelled at a teenage girl who was wearing a shirt that read "Trump: Make America Great Again." The charges against Burke were dismissed on April 23, 2018.[1]
