As a Los Angeles native and a community college graduate herself, Dr. Kelsey Iino (iino) has dedicated her professional career to the community college system. She has worked for over 15 years as a counselor at El Camino College, of which she is an alumna.

She was unanimously appointed in April and now serves on the Legislative and Public Affairs, the Budget, the Athletic Ad Hoc, the African American/Black Ad Hoc, and Gender Equity Committee. She is also chair of the API Advisory Committee. A key leadership position Kelsey currently holds is President of the El Camino College Federation of Teachers-AFT1388, representing nearly 1,000 faculty members.

Kelsey is a Los Angeles native, attended El Camino College and earned an A.A. in Sociology, her B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Education and then her M.Ed. in Counseling and Student Affairs at UCLA, and her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from USC.

  • My personal and professional background and experience as a graduate of the community college system, Community College Faculty Member, Faculty Union Leader, and community activist have prepared me for this position.
  • I am grateful to have been unanimously appointed to the LACCD Board this past April and have seamlessly joined the current Trustees with decision making and problem solving for the District. I value this role and am honored to be able to do the work of a Community College Trustee.
  • Even though I have only been serving as Trustee to the LACCD for four months, I have already become a voting board member on the Legislative and Public Affairs Committee, Budget and Finance Committee, Athletics Ad Hoc Committee, Black/African American Ad Hoc, and Chair of the AAPI Advisory Committee. The role of trustee is definitely within my wheelhouse and I am dedicated to supporting the community college system to better serve students and the community.
Affordable/free education, addressing housing insecurities for students, addressing food insecurities for students, enrollment and retention, the Student Centered Funding Formula (SCFF)fiscal cliff, the great resignation, and providing dignity and purpose to those who work for the District and for the students attending the District.
