One of the five seats on the School District of Osceola County school board was up for primary election on August 30, 2016. In his bid for re-election, District 2 incumbent Kelvin Soto defeated challenger Wilfredo Fonseca. The seat of District 3 incumbent Timothy Weisheyer was originally set to be on the ballot, but because he was unopposed in his bid for re-election, his name did not appear on the ballot, and he was automatically re-elected to another term.[1][2]
