Ken Klukowski is the senior counsel and director of strategic affairs for the First Liberty Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit pro-religious freedom legal group.[2][3] Klukowski was also a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team, a group of advisors tasked with recommending presidential appointments for the incoming administration.[4]

Career

Legal and political career

After earning his J.D. from George Mason University, Ken Klukowski was a law clerk under Chief Judge Alice Batchelder of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. In 2014, Klukowski was the special deputy attorney general for the state of Indiana.[5] He has also taught at the Liberty University School of Law and serves as the senior counsel and director of strategic affairs for First Liberty Institute, which provides free legal services to religious freedom cases.[3]

Organizations

Klukowski is a fellow with the American Civil Rights Union, a constitutional rights advocacy organization.[5][6] He has served as a senior fellow for religious liberty at the Family Research Council, a pro-life group that seeks "to advance faith, family and freedom in public policy and the culture from a Christian worldview."[7]

As of November 2016, Klukowski is the legal editor for the Breitbart News Network. He has also published articles with The Wall Street Journal, Townhall.com, BigGovernment.com, Fox Forum, the New York Post, Politico, Human Events, the American Thinker, the American Spectator, The Washington Times, and the Washington Examiner. He is also the legal editor for the Breitbart News Network.[5][1][3] Klukowski has authored the book Resurgent: How Constitutional Conservatism Can Save America.[5]

Klukowski was a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team in his first presidential term. The transition team was a group of around 100 aides, policy experts, government affairs officials, and former government officials who were tasked with vetting, interviewing, and recommending individuals for top cabinet and staff roles in Trump's administration. He was tasked with "protecting constitutional rights," according to sources cited by Poltiico.[4]
