Ken Martin is the chairman of the Democratic National Committee. The DNC membership elected Martin to serve in that role on February 1, 2025.[1]
Martin formerly served as the chairman of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party from 2011 to 2025.
Career
Martin received bachelor's degrees in political science and history from the University of Kansas in 1996. Martin began his career as an intern in U.S. Sen. Paul Wellstone's (D-Minn.) office. He also worked on Bill Clinton's (D) 1992 presidential campaign and as a field director for the Kansas Democratic Party.[2]
Martin started working for the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party in 1998 as the political and field director. In 2000, Martin worked on Al Gore's (D) presidential campaign, and in 2004, Martin worked on John Kerry's (D) presidential campaign. Martin worked as a policy aide for Ramsey County Commissioenr Susan Haigh from 2001 to 2005. He then worked as an executive assistant for Minnesota Attorney General Mike Hatch in 2005.[2]
Martin worked as the chairman of the WIN Minnesota PAC in 2010. He was then elected chairman of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party in February 2011. In 2017, Martin was elected by Democratic Party members to serve as president of the Association of State Democratic Committees.[2] In February 2025, Martin was elected chairman of the Democratic National Committee.[1]
