s a long-time resident, community activist, and a leader in the financial sector, Ken Meija-Beal has spent the better part of his life helping others in his community. As a young professional in DuPage County, Ken worked as a mortgage manager, helping citizens affected by the housing crisis receive a hand up through the government-sponsored HARP program. But his work in the southwest suburban community did not stop there. As an activist and community organizer, he has experience in discussing affordable housing, climate justice, and affordable healthcare with elected members of the Illinois General Assembly. As a member of the Advisory Panel of Equality Illinois and the DuPage NAACP, Ken understands the socioeconomic struggles faced by all communities, and has dedicated a large part of his career towards alleviating these disparities in common-sense, bipartisan ways.
  • Fiscal Responsibility and Transparency - We must get Illinois on track with spending. We have decades of financial mismanagement.
  • Making Illinois Healthier. Making Illinois a state that not only has accessibility to treatment, but a state that can prevent chronic illnesses
  • Making Illinois Greener.
I am passionate about making sure the American dream is a possible reality for folks in Illinois. For far too long this state has mismanaged funds and that has trickled down to each and every one of us.
Nelson Mandela because of his determination and perseverance.

Anita Hill for her bravery

Steve Jobs for his innovation

Presidents George W Bush and Barack Obama for their leadership
To provide the tools needed for folks to be able to help themselves
The ability to get things done. I do not believe in finger pointing , I believe in recognizing problems and fixing them.
To provide the tools needed for folks to be able to help themselves
A legacy of being a middle class America , without a career in politics, that made life better for other working class folks.
No, I believe the biggest problem we face in Illinois are career politicians. We need representatives from all walks of life making important decisions about our state.
Becoming fiscally transparent. We need to do a better job of both explaining where our tax dollars are going and creating new revenue streams, besides taxes.
Yes, in order for our state to function I believe legislators, in a bi partisan effort , need to collaborate and work together on issues.
I prefer the process of having non partisan legislative staff drawing the maps.
One of the best state legislators we have had in Representive Greg Harris. He has the ability to communicate new ideas effectively
I spoke with a gentleman who lost his wife to cancer. After her death he had to pull his life together. There was a lack of mental health programs in our state and to hear him describing what it was like to be a single parent trying to keep it together changed my outlook on what we should be doing as legislators.
