Ken Merrifield is the New Hampshire Commissioner of Labor. Merrifield assumed office on April 19, 2017. Merrifield's current term ends on August 30, 2028.

Biography

A native of Nashua, NH, Merrifield graduated from Saint Anselm College in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in English. He first joined the New Hampshire Department of Health & Human Services in 2001 as a financial analyst. Merrifield received a master's in business administration from Franklin Pierce University in 2007. In 2013, he moved to the state's Department of Education as the department's CFO. Merrifield returned to the Department of Health & Human Services in 2014.[1]

Political career

New Hampshire Commissioner of Labor (2017-present)

Merrifield was first appointed as labor commissioner on April 4, 2017, by Gov. Chris Sununu.[2] He was confirmed by the Executive Council on April 19.[3]

Mayor of Franklin (2008-2017)

Merrifield was first elected Mayor of Franklin, NH in 2008 as a Republican.[1] He stepped down in 2017 following his confirmation as commissioner of labor.[3]
