Kenneth R. Melvin
Kenneth R. Melvin is a former judge for the 3rd Circuit in Virginia.[1] The 3rd Circuit is home to the Portsmouth Circuit Court.[2] He was appointed to the court by former Governor Tim Kaine in April 2009.[3] Melvin's term expired in 2017.[4]
Education
Melvin received his undergraduate degree from Colby College and his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.[5]
Career
Before his appointment to the court, Melvin served as a Democratic member of the Virginia House of Delegates for twenty-four years, from 1986 to 2009.[3] He represented District 80. Melvin resigned from the House on May 1, 2009.[6]
