Kenneth W. Schmidt

Kenneth Schmidt is a former chief judge of the 18th Circuit Court in Bay County, Michigan. He was appointed to this position by Governor John Engler on March 5, 1996, to replace former Judge Eugene C. Penzien.[1] He was elected later that year and was re-elected in 2000, 2006 and 2012. Engler retired on February 19, 2016.[2]
Education
Schmidt received his B.S. from Michigan State University in 1971 and his J.D. from the University of Detroit School of Law in 1975.[1]
Career
Schmidt began his career with the law firm of Sinelli, Decker & Schmidt, where he worked as an associate until he joined the firm of Dwan & Schmidt. He then moved to the firm of Lambert, Lesser, Cook, Schmidt & Giunta in Bay City. He practiced there until he was appointed to the circuit court in 1996.[1]
2012 election
Schmidt was re-elected after running unopposed in 2012.[3] [4]
