Kenny Alston is a Democratic political advisor who specializes in governmental legal affairs. He was an advisor for Lincoln Chafee's 2016 presidential campaign. Alston previously worked as counsel for Weight Watchers International and as an advisor and chief of staff to Lincoln Chafee while he served as governor of Rhode Island.[1]
Career
Before joining Lincoln Chafee's political team, Kenny Alston worked as a corporate lawyer in New York City, providing counsel for Weight Watchers International and MortageIT.[1] In 2010, Alston began work with the Chafee administration when Chafee was a candidate for governor of Rhode Island.[2] With Chafee, Alston was deputy executive counsel, a policy and legislative advisor, director of operations and chief of staff. Of his role with Chafee, Alston told the Providence Journal:[2]

In the exploratory phase, Lincoln Chafee did not have any paid staffers, telling Politico, "It’s a volunteer effort at this stage."[4] Chafee announced his presidential run on June 3, 2015.[5] As of June 2015, the campaign itself had not officially announced any staff hirings, but Alston remained an advisor to Chafee. Chafee dropped out of the race on October 23, 2015.[6]
