I am a native of Arizona and served more than 23 years in Law Enforcement, retiring as a police commander in Gilbert, AZ. I have a wealth of executive leadership experience in both government and private sector. I am married, have five adult children, and two grandchildren. I am running with intent to bring civility and respect back to the political office, with the goal of helping direct Gilbert to and through buildout utilizing relational intelligence, problem solving, and interest based solutions, to provide strong, financially responsible policy for the Town.
  • Kenny's commitment to enhancing public safety is unwavering. His priority is to ensure an adequate number of first responders, including police and fire personnel, by conducting consistent compensation market analysis and adjustments. Kenny has demonstrated success by implementing programs like Data Driven Approaches to Crime and Traffic Safety (DDACTS), which reduced crime and traffic congestion, and will continue to support data driven programs for Gilbert. He will support advancements in technology for our public safety departments to equip them with the latest tools. Collaboration between Public Safety and Traffic Engineering will be fostered to address traffic congestion effectively. Additionally, transparency will be upheld.
  • Kenny is committed to fostering business opportunities for our community's growth and prosperity. With firsthand experience as a former small business owner, Kenny understands the importance of a strong connection between the Town and the business community. He recognizes the need for efficient processes and overall balance, where businesses of all sizes can thrive and will continue working to ensure diverse business opportunities are available. With Kenny's leadership, Gilbert will remain a vibrant hub for entrepreneurship and economic development, empowering small businesses to flourish.
  • Kenny is dedicated to promoting sustainable infrastructure for our long-term prosperity. With firsthand experience of the community's rapid growth during the 1990s and 2000s, Kenny understands the importance of maintaining and upgrading our infrastructure. As our roads and underground pipes age, he prioritizes allocating funds when necessary for replacements while focusing on preserving existing infrastructure. Steadfastly adhering to maintenance best practices to extend the lifespan of roadways is important in avoiding costly and time-consuming early replacements. Kenny will prioritize responsible funding, leverage technology, and exercise due diligence in maintenance to ensure sustainable infrastructure into the future.
Public Safety. There are many contributors to the creation of a high performing government and one that achieves the high quality of life standards that Gilbert currently enjoys. Perceptions are peoples' reality and the feeling of being safe is a top concern for most people. I am passionate about ensuring strong public safety, supported by data and transparency that can provide the feeling of safety by the citizens that live, work and play in the community. I am also passionate about government making smart decisions that provide the essential services and high quality of life for residents in financially responsible ways, ensuring we are smart with the taxpayers money.
Local government politics is very important because it is the closest level of governance to the people in where they live, work and play. Decisions made by the council, directly impact the people in the community. It is a critical function with a large impact.
Anything on Ronald Regan. Stand for the values you believe but be willing to listen to differing opinions. I support lowering taxes and reduction of government spend that is not responsible. However, I don't stand on a line of cut and only cut as a standard policy. There are areas requiring spend, but they need to be clearly justified in identifying the need, benefits, and risks of not funding. Evaluate then entire program, timing, and then make smart decisions based on the totality of circumstances. I prefer the big-tent philosophy where different voices are heard and personal attacks based on belief should not be tolerated.
Strong, unwavering ethics. Integrity. Transparency. Selfless, servant leadership. If a candidate wants to run, I have concerns about their ego and desire for power. I am running because I feel compelled to run, with the goal of bringing back trust, respect, and civility that the citizens expect and deserve.
To deliver ethical, relevant, and responsible policy to the community. It is important to cast vision, set strong policy, and then allow the Manager and staff to execute the direction and policy. The Council should be open to all citizens, regardless of political beliefs, listening to all sides before making decisions. Be strong advocates and partners for the community.
A positive impact upon those I have loved and served.
No, however having previous experience in government is helpful. Having served as a leader in both government and private sectors, It is easy to say we should run government like a business, however, there are laws that make that difficult. Government budget and spend have different rules. For example, I have witnessed prior Council members come in new and see funds within the budget they wanted to utilize for one purpose, however the fund, such as HURF tax, may only be utilized for certain purposes by law. Having understanding of government budgeting is valuable to not making critical mistakes and lessens the learning curve significantly.
Strong integrity and moral code, critical thinking, relational intelligence, listening, decisiveness, objectivity, respect and kindness.
There is so much mistrust by the public because there has been so little transparency. Transparency if vital to gain public trust. And where there is disagreement with how government operates, regardless of agreement or dissent, transparency at least lays out the foundation of what the government is doing and how it is operating. Any power provided to government, or anyone, should require full accountability and transparency.
