Primary: He was successful in the Democratic primary on June 3, 2014, receiving 51.2 percent of the vote. He competed against Jason Greenlee.
General: He was unopposed in the general election on November 4, 2014. [1][2]

Montoya served in the United States Army and Army National Guard.[3]

Education

Montoya earned his J.D. from the University of New Mexico Law School and holds a LL.M. from the Judge Advocate General's School. He also obtained a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.[3]

Career

Prior to his election to the bench, Montoya was an attorney in private practice. He also served as assistant district attorney for Bernalillo County, New Mexico and a JAG officer.[3]
