I was born and raised in Colorado to Vietnamese refugees from the Vietnam War. I am is the first in his family to go to college, graduating with a dual degree in Political Science and Communication from the University of Colorado Boulder. I recently completed my Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Colorado Denver this year.
Professionally, I have served as an AmeriCorps Service Member for the Boulder “I Have a Dream” Foundation and as a community organizer for the Jared Polis for Governor campaign in 2018. I served as the Executive Assistant to Colorado’s Lieutenant Governor, Dianne Primavera for over five years and a half years.
Currently I am a Broomfield City Council for Ward 1 and was previous chair to the Broomfield Arts, History and Cultural Council, I'm passionate about investing my time and energy in Colorado. My City Council assignments include the Broomfield Chamber of Commerce, Metro Area County Commissioners (MACC), and the Northwest Mayors & Commissioners Coalition (MCC). Additionally, I previously served as the Vice Chair to the Colorado Democratic Party Asian American Pacific Islander Initiative and as Secretary of the Broomfield Democrats. During both roles, I advocated and assisted in voter turnout for young people and for the AAPI community. I'm seeking Colorado House District 33 and to be Colorado's first Vietnamese elected official at the Colorado State Assembly. - Housing and rent costs are becoming out of reach for too many families. As an elected official of Colorado, my goal and vision is to allow all Coloradans the ability to live and thrive in our community. Increasing affordable housing, allowing for more housing options, and reinvesting state dollars can help us bridge this gap. As a Broomfield City Council Member I've already engaged and passed several major projects with bringing affordable housing and expanding home options for Broomfielders. I wish to continue this work at the State Assembly so young people can achieve their American dream or find an economically viable home for their futures.
- Climate change is real and it will affect my generation, right now. My goal as a State Representative is to reduce carbon emissions in Colorado and protect the pristine Rocky Mountain outdoors for generations to come. Colorado has made strides, but there are still more opportunities to invest in sustainability and work toward net-zero carbon emissions in our environment. Potential efforts include expanding electric vehicle charging stations and allowing for more wind and solar energy to power our state. I'm disappointed and ashamed that our nation has withdrawn from the Paris Climate Agreement and believe that we are in the wrong direction of addressing climate change.
- Colorado should be a welcoming place for those of all races, genders, socioeconomic statuses, and sexual orientations. I promise to present a Colorado for all and to make sure that we are a community in which diversity is a strength. I firmly believer in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and strongly oppose President Donald Trump's efforts to end DEI and reduce our ability to share stories of the many adversities of our nation. I'm the son of Vietnamese refugees and staunchly support immigrants, refugees, and new neighbors in our nation and in our communities. The United States of America is a nation of immigrants.
Nationally, we are facing an erosion of Medicaid and education funding. This wrongfully targets Colorado’s most vulnerable. My belief is that government is by the people and for the people. I grew up with food stamps, using Medicaid and being assisted by government assistance. Colorado and America must do better to support its most vulnerable populations from economically disadvantage communities to those in need. The United States of America is the richest and most powerful country on the planet yet we cannot provide basic healthcare or services to the people that live here.
President Barack Obama. Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King. Eugene Lang. Dianne Primavera. People and heroes who put service and giving back to their community in their lifetimes.
President Barack Obama 2012 was the first election I was able to wrote. I'm continued to be inspired and many of his core tenants of getting out the vote with youth still resonates with me to this day. If anyone wants to understand my political philosophy, I encourage anyone to read and have their own copy of the United States Constitution. My parents were Vietnamese refugees, my grandfather was sent to a Re-education camp after the Vietnam War. I know the horrors of war, my family still resonates with the trauma of it. I think America is truly the a welcoming place for all people around the world. Diversity is our strong and I believe that hope and positivity are the virtues of this nation.
Honesty, transparency, and accountability. I recognize that election results must be respected and that as elected public office holders, we are beholden to be professional and respectful towards our residents and the people living in our communities regardless of their political views or affiliations. I believe that elected officials should be authentic and open about themselves. Additionally, Elected officials should abide by the law and that should reflect in our standing within the community. We are servants of the people, we are beholden to voters and to the greater public. We are not brought by lobbyists or by corporations. Elected officials are for the people and we must be accountable to those principles. Our oath is to the United States Constitution and to its people, that is what is important and crucial in these times.
I'm a dedicated public servant, I've worked at the State Capitol for 6 years and have a degree in Political Science and Communication at the University of Colorado Boulder. This year in 2025, I was the first in my family to graduate with a Masters of Public Administration (MPA) at the University of Colorado Denver. Additionally, I'm a current Broomfield City Council Member and have had numerous boards and commissions experience. I am ready for this office of State Representative.
Being able to answer to your constituents. As a State Representative, it is my wish to be an advocate and a voice to the voiceless. I take great pride in civic engagement and anyone willingly to testify or speak on a bill, I will listen and do my best to uphold the wishes of those who elect me. A State Representative will make laws that affect everything within the State of Colorado. We must do our best to keep government efficient and running. I believe laws should improve the lives of the people living here. I believe we also should protect and keep people in our state able to live freely and fairly.
I want to pave the way for future generations of young progressives to be able to win and succeed in office and the public sphere. I want people to be able to be comfortable and happy in our State. I want us to be proud of being Americans rather then being ashamed. I want us to solve the Climate crisis and address the many issues and problems. I know I won't be able to fix or address everything but just talking about it and focusing on some of these problems will help and leave an impact for the people after me.
I was in pre-k when the Columbine massacre happened. I remember the lockdown drills the year after in Colorado since I went to school at Boulder Valley School District. These are some of my earliest memories and I will never forget the coverage and adults talking about safety and addressing the concerns of mass school shootings.
My first job was an internship at the University of Colorado Boulder at the International English Center for one summer in 2011. My first job after college was at a Century movie theater in Boulder and a Team Member for Whole Foods at Boulder, I was doing summer jobs before my AmeriCorp Service with the "I Have a Dream" Foundation at Boulder County. I've worked as a food delivery driver as well and generally have an appreciation and understanding of working class jobs here. These were all periodic positions throughout my life and I still think that the wages are absolutely unfair and not livable.
I've been binge reading Warhammer 40K novels since I was in 6th grade so right now it is the Siege of Terra book series. Very powerful science fiction.
Anything from Kpop Demon Hunters.
My family has generational trauma from the Vietnam War. I grew up with a broken family and struggled much in my life with varying degrees of adversity and poverty. We were poor, we relied on food stamps, Medicaid, and other welfare programs. I'm still very privilege in some areas but I did have a hard childhood with being in special programs such as English is Second Language (ESL) and speech therapy.
A healthy relationship that reflects on the wishes of the people of Colorado. The Governor sets the agenda and priority of the State Assembly, and the legislative enacts laws and budget to make it happen. Laws should not be vetoed since in theory, the Governor would have communicated their priorities and agenda setting. Now this doesn't mean that the Governor can never veto a bill but I just hope that we could all get along and be friends during the legislative session in Colorado especially if its for worker rights, for education, affordable housing and for transportation.
Too many to address but to name a few: energy, climate change, affordable housing, wages, Medicaid, and much more in the State of Colorado. This generation will be rebuilding and doing damage control from the chaos of D.C for years to come. Many people will be suffering after 2027 when they will be kicked off several social welfare programs and that will pass to the state legislative. Already, Colorado is in a massive fiscal hole and it would be extremely difficult to have a balance budget with the chaos and insanity in Washington D.C right now.
Depends on the person but generally I do believe experience in government and politics is a general plus. However, I do not think it is a requirement or a criteria for anyone wanting to be elected as a State Representative. Generally speaking, I'm an experienced in government and politics with my entire life focused on public policy making and public service but I recognize that not all state legislators have that experience. I think anyone can and should run for office if they are passionate about it as not all communities have had an fair opportunity to be involved and engaged with politics.
Yes. Relationships and teamwork with other colleagues is important to being successful and working together. I believe in the power of the people and by working together, we can create change that is effective and reflects our communities in the mission of public service. We stand together and serve the great people of Colorado. I think that having a caucus that votes together as a community is important for any democratic process. I would gladly work across the aisle as well and do believe that Colorado lawmakers can be bipartisan even in the age of MAGA. We are all Americans and we all want to serve our community.
Dianne Primavera. Former State Representative of Broomfield and Colorado's 50th Lieutenant Governor. I met her when I was in 7th grade in 2007 and worked for her for 5 and a half years. She is the embodiment of everything that I believe is a good politician. Dianne is kind, respectful, humble, and always an advocate for the community. I'm so thankful to have been her staffer for her first and part of her second term as Lieutenant Governor. Dianne is what everything is good about Colorado and our community is.
I only wish to serve the good people of House District 33 at this time.
The biggest one for me is hearing stories of newcomers and people moving to Broomfield's new affordable homes. Broomfield is building one of the first of a kind affordable housing units that focuses on primarily people with intellectual development disabilities (IDD). We have to do better and continue to work on creating more homes to those in need.
Addressing the vulnerable people and focusing on inequalities in Colorado. Additionally focusing on ways to address climate change and expanding on renewable energy resources in our state.

I firmly support and believe on limits of financial donations. Citizens United should be challenged and reviewed as I believe that money and corporations have too much power and influence in government and with elected officials. I believe in US institutions that establishes law and order in our government. The court of law and balance of powers, checks and balances should be respected regardless of your political beliefs. I want elected officials to not have the ability to hide their donors via SUPER PACs and believe that every donation should be public and available.
I will need to review the current state ballot initiative. I'm for increasing wages, expanding affordable housing, and generally public infrastructure like roads and transit.
