Kent Taylor (California)

Kent Taylor is the former Area 3 representative on the Colton Joint Unified Board of Education in California, serving from 2014 to 2020. Taylor resigned on April 9, 2019.[1]
In 2016, Taylor ran for re-election, but the election was canceled due to lack of opposition. Taylor was re-elected to the board by default.[2]
Taylor previously served on the Colton Joint Unified Board of Education from 1999 to 2011. He left to take a position as superintendent of the Southern Kern Unified School District.[3]

The election was canceled, however, due to lack of opposition. Incumbents Patt Haro, Frank Ibarra, and Kent Taylor were the only candidates to file for the Area 1, 2, and 3 seats, respectively. Because of this, they were re-elected by default.[2]

2014
Five seats on the Colton Joint Unified School District Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. One board member from Trustee Area 1, two members from Trustee Area 2 and one member from Trustee Area 3 were up for re-election to four-year terms. Another seat from Trustee Area 3 was up for election to a two-year term due to a vacancy on the board.
Trustee Area 1 incumbent Randall Ceniceros ran unopposed and won re-election by default. The Trustee Area 2 race featured two incumbents, Pilar Tabera and Dan Flores, and one challenger, Juan Rodriguez, running for two seats. Tabera and Flores won their bids for re-election. In Trustee Area 3, incumbent Joanne E. Thoring-Ojeda ran unopposed and won re-election to a four-year term by default. The two-year term election in Trustee Area 3 featured candidates Kent Taylor, Jennifer Araiza and Francine Sandoval. Taylor defeated the other candidates to win the seat.
