Kentiel White (Democratic Party) ran for election for Governor of Michigan. He did not appear on the ballot for the Democratic primary on August 7, 2018.

White also ran in a special election to the U.S. House to represent Michigan's 13th Congressional District. He was disqualified from the special Democratic primary scheduled on August 7, 2018.

Biography

A native of Detroit, White joined the Detroit Police Department after graduation, where he worked as a community service assistant. After three years with the Department, White joined Wolverine Health Services in 2001 as a juvenile youth worker. In 2003, White joined Community Ambulance Services as a non-emergency driver. White left Wolverine Health Services and Community Ambulance Services in 2005, and in 2006 joined Total Transportation Services as a nonemergency driver. Later that year, White left Total Transportation Services to join Medic One Ambulance Service. After five years, White would leave Medic One Ambulance Service before being hired in 2012 as a transportation manager with Care Medical Transportation. At the time of his entrance into the gubernatorial campaign, White remained active with Care Medical Transportation.[1][2]

Rebuilding Our Neighborhoods

  • Invest and strengthen police and community relations to reduce crime
  • Encourage the creation of block clubs, create club leaders to meet with Governor monthly
  • Establish mandatory affordable housing within revitalized neighborhoods with option to purchase home through credit and debt counseling classes; personal financial classes
  • Transitioning the homeless to homes “Homeless to Homebound”

Education Reform

  • Create a global curriculum to compete with students from around the world
  • Include more college prep courses, personal finance courses, entrepreneurship classes, mentorship and externship opportunities
  • Renovate closed school buildings to provide extended neighborhood services open to the entire community (i.e. tutoring, sports, GED prep, college prep, financial aid, job searches, volunteer matches)
  • Provide Michigan residents free tuition to any 2-Year Community College within state
  • Allow College Professors and business professionals to visit junior high and high school students to speak and educate about college life and the preparation for entrepreneurship and employment opportunities available after high school and college.

Economic Prosperity

  • Give Michigan businesses a 20% tax break for hiring Michigan residents that account for a minimum of 55% of total work force and they must provide an account of Work performed to receive tax break annually
  • Raising the Minimum Wage to a living wage to combat poverty, reduce unemployment rate, and to decrease the number of able bodied individuals on the welfare rolls
  • All Companies with more than 100 employees must provide full Healthcare benefits[3]
