Duties

The general powers and duties of the commissioner as set out in the Kentucky Revised Statutes are as follows:[4]

  • Personally supervise the operations of the department
  • Examine and inquire into violations of the insurance code, enforce the provisions of the code with impartiality and execute the duties imposed upon him or her by the code
  • Conduct examinations and investigations of insurance matters
  • Establish and maintain branch offices in the state
