The Judicial Update

January 18, 2013

Kentucky: On January 17, the Supreme Court of Kentucky announced the retirement of Justice Wil Schroder. Schroder, who was elected to the state's high court in 2006, was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor.[1]

Chief Justice John D. Minton, Jr. said of Schroder,

"He brought a sharp intellect and meticulous approach to his work on the Supreme Court. He felt obligated every day to work hard on behalf of the people in his district and the state. The Supreme Court will not be the same without him."[2][3]

Schroder served as a judge in Kentucky since 1983, when he joined the Kenton District Court. He joined the Kentucky Court of Appeals in 1991, where he served until his election to the Supreme Court.[1]
