Kentucky candidate remains on ballot despite ineligibility

FRANKFORT, Kentucky: Republican candidate Gail Powers has been ruled ineligible in Louisville's District 44 House race.
Last week, a Circuit Court Judge ruled that Powers' ineligibility is a result of an invalid signature found on her candidacy paperwork.
The individual's signature is invalid because they do not reside in the 44th District, a Kentucky requirement.
Powers plans to appeal this ruling, and says that she will continue to run as a qualified candidate in the interim. If Powers loses her appeal, her name will remain on the ballot, but votes in her favor will not count.
Powers hopes to challenge incumbent Joni Jenkins on November 2nd. Jenkins has declined to comment.[1]
