2016

Roberson's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Public Safety and Criminal Justice

  • Kerby will work to keep our families safe by:
  • Funding for community policing for Milton and Randolph Police Departments for neighborhood patrols that reduce violent and property crimes.
  • Equipping public safety professionals with the latest training, tools, and technology.
  • Securing funding for dedicated patrols for the State Police in our state parks and protected waterways along the Neponset River.
  • Providing support to our young people before they are swallowed by addictions and poverty. This approach includes programs in our schools and communities as well a more thoughtful reentry program.

Healthcare

  • Kerby will fight for our families by:
  • Advocating for the best affordable health care options for our residents and our seniors on fixed incomes.
  • Working to ensure that area hospital and our Community Health Centers continue to be anchors in our community.
  • Providing for our most vulnerable youth and families get the intervention they need through state and community-based programs.

Education

  • Kerby will bring these opportunities to all our resident by:
  • Making sure that every neighborhood has good schools for our children. Expanding access to quality neighborhood schools will help our children thrive and build stronger communities.
  • Expanding funding for PreK and early education, so our children are ready for their first day of kindergarten.
  • Expand choices both in school and through afterschool programs to fill that day with art, music and extracurricular opportunities that help keep our children excited about school and attentive throughout the day.
  • Giving teachers the fundamental resources they need from fair pay to essential classroom resources (books, supplies, computers and other technology).
  • Ensuring special education students are equipped to succeed.

Economic Opportunity

  • Standing up for working, middle class families is Kerby’s passion and he’ll work vigorously to expand economic opportunity for all our residents by:
  • Advocating for labor agreements in state and private business to ensure that only local labor is used for construction projects.
  • Protecting working class families by increasing the minimum wage and opposing any cuts to unemployment insurance or efforts to undermine worker rights.
  • Focusing on small business development and uniting business districts. Growing just one or two jobs in our existing small businesses could translate to millions of dollars in our local economy.
  • Recapitalizing small business loan funds and connect banking loans and nontraditional businesses to be able to receive existing funding.[5]
