I am a CPA, small business owner and Mayor of Tuscumbia, AL. These have prepared me to accept the role of legislator because of the accountability, efficiency and pro-business required by experience.
  • I will connect this district by my working relationships with local elected officials at city and county levels and work to help them achieve their priorities for your communities.
  • I will continue to recruit industry into the area for good employment as I have for six years from my position on Shoals EDA board as Mayor.
  • I will work to improve our mental health / addiction model at the State level to improve a person's chances to become productive members of our community.
I am passionate about our policies regarding first responders, mental health and strengthening our municipal and county levels of representation.
Politically I look up to President Lincoln. His leadership style was crucial during the dangerous times of the Civil War, requiring empathy for the South as well as the 13th Amendment passage.
My first historical event in memory of significance is the Ronald Reagan presidency. I was a teenager and still remember the American pride of defeating communism and Reaganomics as it created wealth with lower taxes.
I maintained the lawn at my church in Leighton while in high school. I held that job for five years.
Fearless - The Undaunted Courage and Ultimate Sacrifice of Navy SEAL Team SIX Operator Adam Brown by Eric Blehm.

The true story of second chance and ultimate sacrifice for one's country is a noble and worthy account to study. Adam Brown was one such individual.
Two of the three separations of power are Legislative and Executive (governor). The legislature will always set the rules with the passage of bills including the funding of the government and the governor will always faithfully execute those with the Cabinet appointees and employees. The change I would make at this juncture would be to allow the legislature to call itself into special session when the need arose. At this time, it is the decision and authority of the governor.
Success is our greatest challenge over the next decade. Industry and employment for the state is at an all time high and with it comes the financial responsibility of the legislature to account for those increases. Now is the time to make the strategic decisions that will have long term positive effects for the state with both investments and reserves.
In many things, it is absolutely necessary. However, in the core principal beliefs it can not be. I can compromise on a local legislation if a community majority wants to change a policy or a tax. I can't yield my belief that government should be intentionally small to prevent overreach and over-taxing. My core principal remains in that the taxation didn't originate from the governmental body, but instead from the people's desire to fund their community.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Alabama

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
