Kevin A. Ohlson is the chief judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. Ohlson was nominated by President Barack Obama (D) on September 14, 2011, and confirmed by the Senate on October 16, 2013. Ohlson's term will expire on July 31, 2028.[1][2][3][4]
Early life and education
A native of Sterling, Massachusetts, Ohlson earned his bachelor's degree from Washington and Jefferson College and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.[1]
Military career
Ohlson was a paratrooper and judicial advocate in the U.S. Army. He served in Persian Gulf War where he received a Bronze Star.[1]

Ohlson was first nominated by President Barack Obama to the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces on September 14, 2011, but Ohlson's nomination was returned by the Senate on January 3, 2013.[2] President Obama resubmitted the nomination on March 21, 2013.[5] Hearings on Ohlson's nomination were held in the United States Senate Committee on Armed Services on September 19, 2013. Ohlson's nomination was reported by U.S. Senator Carl Levin (D-Mich.), on September 24, 2013. Ohlson was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 16, 2013, on a voice vote. Ohlson's term will expire on July 31, 2028.[1][2][3]
