Kevin Blazs is a judge of the Florida 4th Circuit Court. His current term ends on January 7, 2031.

Blazs won re-election for judge of the Florida 4th Circuit Court outright in the general election on November 5, 2024, after the primary and general election were canceled.

Blazs was appointed by Governor Rick Scott in June 2011 to replace the late Jefferson Morrow.[1][2]

Biography

Education

Blazs received his undergraduate and master's degrees from Liberty University, his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and a Master of Laws from the University of London.[1]

Career

Prior to his Circuit Court appointment, Blazs was a judge on the Duval County Court from 2006 to 2011. He's also worked in private practice (1990-2006), served as trial counsel for the U.S. Army Reserve (1992-2001), was a law professor in China (1989-1990) and served as assistant state attorney for the Duval County State Attorney's Office (1987-1989).[1][3]

In the press release of Blazs' appointment to the Circuit Court, Governor Scott said,

"Throughout his impressive 24-year legal career, Judge Blazs has defended, prosecuted and presided over both criminal and civil cases, providing him with a vast knowledge of the law and procedure. Equally impressive is the fact that Judge Blazs has continued to pursue advanced education during his time as a lawyer and judge – endeavors that are reflected in the wisdom of his rulings. I am confident that he will continue his record of judicial restraint and will evaluate every case that comes before him with integrity and objectivity."[1]
