Kevin Clinton
Kevin Clinton served as the 45th Michigan Treasurer. Prior to that, Clinton served as the Michigan Commissioner of Insurance from April 2011 until his appointment as state treasurer effective Nov. 1, 2013.[1] Clinton served in this post until 2015, when he announced his resignation in order to return to the private sector. He was succeeded by Nick Khouri.
Biography
Clinton earned both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree from the University of Michigan.[2] Afterwards, he worked extensively experience in the private sector insurance industry. He served for five years as president and CEO of MEEMIC Insurance Company. He also served as the chief financial officer at ProNational Insurance Company. In 2001, he joined American Physicians Capital, Inc. During his time there he served as the company's vice president and chief operating officer. He then went on to serve as the company's president and CEO.[2].
Clinton turned to public service in 2011, serving as Michigan's insurance commissioner until 2013 when Gov. Rick Snyder reshuffled his cabinet. These changes came in response to the resignation of Treasurer Andy Dillon, who announced his resignation on Oct. 10, 2013 amidst growing media scrutiny over his divorce and personal financial issues. Ann Flood, the chief deputy director of the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services, was tapped as director of the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services, while Clinton, who had been serving in that post, was named state treasurer.[3][4][5] After serving for approximately 16 months as treasurer, Clinton resigned, citing a desire to return to the insurance and financial service industries.[6][7]
