I am a longtime conservation leader who has dedicated my career to protecting and improving the community. Raised in Arizona, I am the product of public schools. Starting with an active ecology club in high school I began a lifetime of environmental work, including fighting climate change. Today, I am the Arizona Senior Program Manager at the National Parks Conservation Association where I work to protect our national parks and lands. My family have called Tucson home for 38 years. My wife Bam Miller is a retired TUSD Special Education teacher and neighborhood association president; and my son Brian Dahl is #TheGuyWhoDancesOnCongress. I am running to ensure our city remains a vibrant, healthy, and safe community for everyone to call home.
  • Climate Change - Tucson must go all out to reduce carbon emissions while doing adaptation and mitigation for our most vulnerable residents.
  • Water Security - With a mega-drought threatening our allotment from the Colorado River, and PFAs and other toxics polluting our aquifer, planning for clean, affordable water is essential.
  • We must plan and implement a 21st Century transportation system that includes repairing neighborhood roads, safer opportunities for bicyclists and pedestrians, and much more public transit.
U.S. Congressman Raul Grijalva, a longtime Tucson leader who has served on the School Board, as a County Supervisor, and for years in U.S. Congress. From I have learned to make connections between environmental issues and he vulnerable, underserved communities they most strongly impact. A tireless and thoughtful advocate for helping people and the planet, Congressman Grijalva exemplifies leadership as service.
A City Council member must work collaboratively and not care who gets credit for good projects. They must empower members of the public to engage in the political process. They should work with transparency and be accessible to those they represent. They must do their homework, and look at new information objectively before helping to make policy decisions.
I would like to help keep Tucson the vibrant community and a great place for everyone to live. This would include enough affordable, clean water, a sustainable transportation system, and more trees, parks, and vegetation in a city that is fighting climate change and helping people adapt and mitigate to what it will bring us.
Dalva by Jim Harrison. The great American novelist, Harrison lived part of his life in southern Arizona, where many of his later novels are set. But this one is a masterpiece, exploring issues of love and healing from the historical trauma of how settlers fought with Native Americans in Plains. His writing is poetic and delightful.
The ward office can help residents get results when they have a problem or concern with other departments of the city.
Yes, to some degree. It is very beneficial that the office holder understand how government works, and how to work collaboratively within the city and outside with all manner of stakeholders.
How to make their views and concerns known, and more importantly know how to listen to others. How to work with others in meetings, how to collaborate. An ability and willingness to dig into problems, seek out information and research and know how to analyze it, and how to ask questions would serve a holder of this office well.
