I have a fun life with my lovely wife and 2 silly kids. You will often see us camping around the Mt Hood campgrounds or enjoying Cannon Beach Airbnb's.

I've been growing and living off my backyard organic veggie and fruit garden since I was 12. Including chickens for fresh eggs and all the berries one can imagine. Living healthy and the tips and tricks for longevity have always been a passion of mine.

I was a small business owner of a snowboard and clothing apparel company.

I've always been an active community member. I was a board member for the non-profit Portland Ultimate organization. I've been a youth sports coach for several years. I was the leader of a social justice choir. I created the 101 Cool Portland Places list. I am the creator and co-host of a radio show, Country Dog-City Dog. A talk show all about trying to smooth the bumpy relationship between urban and rural.

I've always loved science and was hired at the Griffith Observatory and then NASA/JPL. Giving tours educating the public on science and astronomy. Talking firsthand with many of the scientists and engineers opened my eyes to our climate and weather patterns.

Since moving here on the first day of spring in 2003, I've always lived in SE Portland. There's so much to love about it.
  • I WILL BE RELENTLESS ON POWERFUL CLIMATE LEGISLATION. My experience at NASA, the pinnacle of scientific achievement, equips me to deliver effective climate policies as your state representative. I will embrace and invest in new green technologies, expand renewable energies, harness innovation to fight climate change and require all public schools to shift more education towards climate change cause and prevention.
  • EXPANDING OREGON'S ECONOMY. With smart tactics we can grow Oregon's economy on many fronts. *We can step up Oregon's eCommerce with Oregon Retail Online. *I will put forward legislation creating tax incentives for contractors, home builders and store owners who purchase their inventory and supplies from Oregon-made businesses. This can be one of the most powerful tools we can use to grow a local economy. *A strong economy also comes from building more affordable houses. A healthy affordable housing market equals a healthy local economy. *The lifeblood of any community is the strength of its local small businesses. Let's make it easier for these businesses to thrive. *Invest in Oregon's art, music and culture.
  • HEALTHCARE PRIORITIES. I will always fight for Universal Health Care. Though preventative Healthcare is my focus. My passion. The fundamentals of living healthy so we don’t have to go to the hospital. Women’s Health and reproductive freedoms. 100% Absolutely. Aging Gracefully: Improving seniors access to care. Expanding mental and behavioral health services. Especially in schools. We should recognize the benefits of outdoor health: Sports, gardening, nature hikes, dog walks, picnics, and recreational camping. These are some of the best cures for stress, anxiety and depression. Good health involves feeling safe. Fighting crime using the future of technology without invading our privacy.
A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT IS SO IMPORTANT.

Resilient environmental and climate policy is vital to our future. I am passionate about taking on the climate deniers who are holding back progress.

These ice storms, heat domes, wildfires, droughts, smoke blankets, and ocean acidification will continue to get worse unless we act with force.

I will be knowledgeable and relentless. and fight for our future.
Once I put my mind to something I will follow through with it till its completion. No matter how large the goal is. My relentless passion takes me places.
I am also a good listener and communicator. People are able to put their guard down for a more open and honest dialog. More gets accomplished when others feel comfortable with the conversation.
The core responsibility of someone elected to this office is to listen to their constituents and create policy on behalf of those who elected them into office. Listen to what the voters are saying. Act on their behalf and not on the behalf of a PAC group who donated huge gobs of money to help get them elected into office.
At the age of 10, I remember the news of John Lennon being shot. I didn't know much about him except that he had many nice songs on the radio. I remember how I felt and was so confused why someone would do something so senseless.
The Space Shuttle Challenger explosion was also very impactful for me. I can still remember my 5th-grade teacher crying in front of our class when the news broke.
At 16 I got hired at Baskin Robbins and became their cake decorator. I love Jamoca Almond Fudge ice-cream cakes. From there I got a job as a wedding cake decorator. That was fun.
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. I love how a human and an alien both have to solve the same planetary crisis but without being able to speak to each other. They work together and figure out how to communicate and solve complex mathematical and scientific problems. Ohhh it's wonderful.
Yes, it is vital to build relationships with other legislators. When legislators can come together and work out their differences then I feel more will get accomplished and Oregon's House will be more effective.

Oregonians want many of the same things in life. It’s how we get there is the challenge. We must continue to have dialogue to smooth that bumpy relationship. Respectfully.

This is exactly why I created the radio talk show Country Dog - City Dog. I'm living in the city and my co-host is from rural Oregon. We come together with different perspectives on a variety of important topics that affect our daily lives.
I can't just tell one.

~Did you hear about the guy who evaporated……He’ll be mist.
~Whoever stole a copy of my Microsoft Office…..I will find you….you have my Word.
~ My Dad got fired from a yard construction site. I just couldn’t believe it. But when I got home. The signs were all there.
~ I had a dream last night that I was a muffler. I woke up exhausted.
~The brand-new sweater I was wearing kept picking up static electricity. So I returned it. He gave me another one… free of charge.
~Yesterday I couldn’t figure out if someone was waving at me or the person behind me. In other news, I lost my job as a lifeguard.
~I won an award for being the most secretive person in the office. I can’t tell you how much that means to me.
~Did you hear about the claustrophobic astronaut? He just needed space.
~How does NASA organize their missions? They planet.

~I saw I microbiologist today……he was much bigger then I expected..
My first bill would be Oregon's Green Technologies bill. Let’s attract innovators and manufacturers to come to our state who focus on future green technologies. Especially those in zero-carbon cement, steel, fertilizers, and plastics since these are some of the largest global polluters of greenhouse gas emissions. This will be a win-win for both the climate and the economy.

My second bill would be The Mom-and-Pop-Shop legislation. This will create tax incentives for contractors, home builders and store owners who purchase their inventory and supplies from Oregon-made businesses. This can be one of the most powerful tools to grow a local economy, create more jobs and strengthen the community.

Stop bleeding our hard-earned paychecks out of state and sometimes out of the country. The lifeblood of any community is the strength of its local small businesses. We can make it easier for these businesses to thrive by spending our money locally.

I feel secret dark-money PACS should be banned from our political system. Money in politics has the potential to influence a legislature's vote. Campaign finance reform is so vital for a healthy democracy. Politicians should work for the people and not a millionaire with hidden motives.
I believe it should be public record who exactly the dark-money super-PACS are and what industry they represent. Why exactly would a secretive PAC spend so much money to get one specific candidate elected? Unless that one candidate once in office will start creating laws that benefit this secretive group of donors while ignoring the will of the people. This is exactly why money in politics is so dangerous.
