I am a resident and business owner who is very concerned about the decline of Hawaiian life. Our citizens and businesses pay the highest taxes in the country and yet our public assets rank among the worst in the nation.

In the U.S. we rank: Highest cost of living Worst State to start our run a business

  1. 2 in homelessness
  2. 3 worst schools
  3. 3 worst roads
  4. 3 worst infrastructure

Lowest paid teachers Lowest paid first responders

I want to change this more and I have the plans and ideas to do so, just ask.
  • Tough on crime and homelessness
  • Transparency in government (especially spending) and fiscally responsible
  • Reduce the burden of our citizens and businesses to a reasonable level.
Fiscal responsibility/transparency

Crime and homelessness

Preserve our freedoms.
My favorite political figure is Theodore Roosevelt.
He was a no nonsense kind of guy who stayed true to his convictions, and got things done.
The most important principals of an ellected official are Integrity and transparency.
To serve the people and represent there needs and wishes.
I would really just like for the people to be happy with my work and that they voted for me.
I vaguely recall the assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan. I was 15 or 16 at the time
I recall very well the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster when I was 18 years old.
My first job as a teenager; I worked at an ice skating rink for 2 years.
Atlas Shrugged - Ayn Rand
The protagonists are such strong, heroic characters.
You can't always get what you want - Rolling Stones
Being a business owner in Hawaii is a never ending struggle. A struggle continually made worse by a government that only seems to work against you.
I believe the lower house members have more of an obligation to their immediate constituency, where as the upper house has a greater obligation to the state as a whole. Make no mistake though, members of both houses should be held directly accountable by their districts.
No, in fact I believe just the opposite.
It is a privilege to serve in any legislative body and these positions should be filled with people from all walks of life. One of our biggest problems is that too many of our politicians make a career of public office. They often don't know how to do anything else, they are out of touch with their constituency and often feel they are entitled to their positions. We should be picking our leaders directly from the fabric of our communities, and also replacing them with a certain amount of frequency.
Thanks to covid19 our biggest challenge will be recovering our economy. We must also diversify or economy, and we must purge the corruption from our leadership and restructure our spending so that it is more efficient, responsible and transparent.
As long as everyone is willing to work together and put the people's interests first I think we should all do just fine
Well you will not get very far making enemies of your colleagues, so it is important to find like minded peers and work together whenever possible. With that said, it is far more important to stick to your principals, than to sell out for political equity.
An independent council should be in charge of redistricting.
Yes, I would like to be on "ways and means" and also the "Judiciary" committees.
I wouldn't mind being a part of the leadership, but it is also not a priority for me, at least not at this time.
Let's see how I do as a State Senator first. I want to serve the people. If they are happy with me over time, and would like me to serve in another capacity, I would do my best to accommodate their wishes.
There are too many stories of individuals and small businesses experiencing financial ruin. This was a problem before covid19, now it is the biggest problem our state will face.
The reason I am running is because of all those who have come to me with their many stories of woe, and asking for change.
