Mullins ran for re-election to the 47th District Court.
General: He was unopposed in the general election on November 4, 2014. [1] 

2010

Mullins was elected to the 47th District Court. He defeated candidate James A. Hubbard with 57.44% of the vote on November 2, 2010.[2][3]

Education

Mullins earned a B.A. from the University of Kentucky, going on to receive his J.D. from the University of Louisville. He was admitted to the bar in 1995.[4]

Career

Prior to his judicial appointment in 2009, Mullins was an assistant commonwealth's attorney in Letcher County.[5]

Noteworthy events

2024 Death

On September 19, 2024, Mullins was found with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the Letcher County courthouse in Whitesburg, Kentucky.[6] Letcher County Sheriff Shawn "Mickey" Stines was arrested at the scene.[7] On September 25, 2024, Stines was charged with one count of first-degree murder. On November 25 of the same year, he was additionally charged with one count of murder of a public official. Stines pleaded not guilty to both charges.[8]
