Kevin Rhoten
Kevin Rhoten was a member of the Nashville Metro Council in Tennessee, representing District 14. Rhoten assumed office in 2015. Rhoten left office on September 1, 2023.
Rhoten ran for re-election to the Nashville Metro Council to represent District 14 in Tennessee. Rhoten won in the general election on August 1, 2019.
Biography
Born in Nashville in 1968, Rhoten graduated from DuPont High School. He earned a B.S. in political science from Middle Tennessee State University, going on to receive his J.D. from the University of Memphis.[1] He has practiced law since 2000 in various capacities, with professional experience that includes the following:
- 2013-Present: Attorney and government relations, The Rhoten Law Firm
- 2007-2013: Attorney and legislative liaison, State of Tennessee Health Care Finance and Administration
- 2006-2007: Assistant general counsel and legislative liaison, State of Tennessee Department of Human Services
- 2003-2006: Attorney and government relations, Husch Blackwell
- 2000-2003: Attorney, State of Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance[2]
Rhoten is also a member of the Donelson-Hermitage Neighborhood Association, Donelson-Hermitage Chamber of Commerce, Donelson-Hermitage Neighborhood Association and the Leadership Donelson-Hermitage’s Government Day Committee.[1]

2015
The city of Nashville, Tennessee, held nonpartisan elections for mayor and metro council on August 6, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was May 21, 2015. All 41 metro council seats—including the office of vice mayor—were up for election. In District 14, Kevin Rhoten was unopposed.[3][4] Incumbent James Bruce Stanley was term-limited.

Rhoten lives in the Reserve at Stone Hall subdivision in Hermitage with his wife Bethany, who is an assistant professor at Vanderbilt University. They have two daughters and a newborn son.[1]
