Kerber participated in the following survey conducted by Local Color. The survey questions appear bolded, and Kerber's responses follow below.

Why are you running?

I want to serve on the Board of Education because I believe my past experiences will be of value to the

district. Like others, I want to help our district develop into one of the most respected and sought-after school districts in Colorado; sought after by families, teachers and the business community. I believe we have the best opportunity for growth over any other district in the state. However, growth will demand unity and foresight, requiring additional funding and talent from many outside resources. Additionally, I believe we, as a district, have the greatest opportunity to make diversity not a corporate priority but the fabric of who we are.[5]

—Kevin Robert Kerber (2017)[6]

What do you bring to the table?

As a husband, father, engineer, financial adviser and board member for other organizations, I have a variety of skill sets and knowledge that will positively affect the district. I am familiar with the policy governance model, and the key fundamentals intended to drive progress and results. I know what it takes to 'dream big' and achieve unified goals. Finally, like many of our citizens, I have personally experienced the result of 13 years (K-12) of superior education as a student in Adams 12. Now it’s my obligation to ensure the 27J students have the same opportunity.[5]
—Kevin Robert Kerber (2017)[6]

Summarize the key issues you perceive (how you will address them):

Key issues are funding, growth and the poor perception of our district. These issues aren’t new, and I believe the administration, staff, and supporting community are working to address them. I intend to support additional funding, such as the 2017 mill-levy override, and challenge the district to investigate resources that will generate additional revenue. Further, I would like to see a variety of properly seated committees, responsible for controlled growth, marketing and communication. We also need to leverage our unique diversity and make it the fabric of who we are. This district is the best-kept secret in the state, and we are about to become the leading district responsible for properly preparing students – academically and socially, for a diverse world.[5]
—Kevin Robert Kerber (2017)[6]

What are the challenges/opportunities of the office you seek?

There are a lot of moving parts with various political stances. This will present challenges. However, this district has a big heart, and everyone’s focus appears to be on the students. Our current unity is our best opportunity.[5]
—Kevin Robert Kerber (2017)[6]

Other issues?

I am concerned for the safety of students, staff, and visitors that require transportation across a major highway and active railroad tracks, with no grade separation or pedestrian access points. Specifically, I refer to the intersection of U.S. 85 and 120th Avenue. How can the district get help from our municipalities to make this safe and more convenient during all traffic hours?[5]
—Kevin Robert Kerber (2017)[6]

Why should people vote for you?

I will work hard to ensure our district upholds its mission and values, and will challenge the district to think big with great foresight.[5]
