Kevin Rooney (New Jersey)
Kevin Rooney (Republican Party) was a member of the New Jersey General Assembly, representing District 40. He assumed office in 2016. He left office on January 9, 2024.
Rooney (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the New Jersey General Assembly to represent District 40. He won in the general election on November 2, 2021.
Upon his appointment to the chamber in 2016, he replaced Scott Rumana (R).
On November 10, 2022, Rooney announced he would not be running for re-election to the New Jersey General Assembly.[1]
Biography
Rooney served as Wyckoff Township Mayor in 2011 and again from 2015 to 2016. He also served as deputy Mayor of Wyckoff Township in 2010 and 2014.[2]

2017
General election
Elections for the New Jersey General Assembly took place in 2017. All 80 seats were up for election. State assembly members are elected to two-year terms. The general election took place on November 7, 2017. A primary election took place on June 6, 2017. The filing deadline for the primary election was April 3, 2017.[3] Legislative districts in the New Jersey General Assembly are multi-member districts, with two representatives in each district. In Democratic and Republican primary elections, the top two candidates move forward to the general election, and the top two candidates in the general election are declared the winners.[4] Incumbent Kevin Rooney (R) and Christopher DePhillips (R) defeated Christine Ordway (D), Paul Vagianos (D), and Anthony J. Pellechia (You Tell Me) in the New Jersey General Assembly District 40 general election.[5][6]
