Education

Judge Ross received his B.A. from the University of Iowa and his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law. He worked as an Iowa City police officer for five years before studying law.[1]

Career

Judge Ross began his legal career as a law clerk to Chief Judge Paul A. Magnuson of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. After this, he clerked for Judge Donald P. Lay of the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit. He then joined the firm Greene Espel in 1997. He worked with this firm until his appointment to the court of appeals, focusing on constitutional law, employment consultation and litigation, and general litigation.[1]
