Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Delaware

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

2025 Drunken driving charges

On January 6, 2025, Hensley was charged with second-degree vehicular assault and driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. These charges stemmed from a collision in November, 2024, between Hensley’s vehicle and another driver. Neither driver was left with life-threatening injuries. Hensley was arrested without incident following the collision. Hensley was also charged with failure to yield to oncoming traffic and failure to possess proof of insurance.[11]

On April 16, Hensley pleaded guilty. In addition to losing his driver's license for a year, Hensley was ordered to pay a $500 fine, as well as serve probation while undergoing DUI instruction. Speaking on the incident, Hensley said, "It served as a wake-up call to me and, as a result, I have chosen to make significant changes in my personal life, including entering a recovery program."[12]
