Kevin Woods
Kevin Woods was a member of the Memphis-Shelby County Schools school board in Tennessee, representing District 4. He assumed office on January 25, 2022. He left office on September 1, 2024.
Woods ran for re-election to the Shelby County Schools school board to represent District 4 in Tennessee. He won in the general election on August 6, 2020.
Biography
As of January 2020, Woods was the Memphis market president of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.[1] Previously, he was the executive director of the Workforce Investment Network, which works to improve employment opportunities in Shelby County and Fayette County. He also worked as the director of career development for New Horizons Computer Training Center. Woods has been involved with the Bridges Board of Trustees, PeopleFirst, REACH Memphis, the TN Achieves Advisory Council, the Homeowners Association Board, and Memphis Alumni Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He earned a bachelor's degree in computer engineering and a master's degree in business from the University of Memphis. He and his wife have two daughters.[2]

Five of the nine seats on the Shelby County Schools Board of Education were up for by-district general election on August 4, 2016.[3] Four of the five incumbents who ran to retain their seats ran unopposed and won additional terms: Teresa Jones in District 2, Kevin Woods in District 4, Scott McCormick in District 5, and Miska Clay-Bibbs in District 7. The District 3 race was the only contested race on the ballot, featuring incumbent Stephanie Love and challenger Sharon Fields. Love was re-elected to her seat.[4][5][6][7]
