Key votes

Ballotpedia monitors legislation that receives a vote and highlights the ones that we consider to be key to understanding where elected officials stand on the issues. Here are the criteria and questions we use to identify a key vote:

• Citizen engagement with the legislation

• Is it on Congress.gov's "Most-Viewed Bills" list?

• Marquee coverage

• Did Ballotpedia cover a bill as key legislation in a presidential administration?
• Was the vote related to a noteworthy event (i.e. impeachment)?
