Keyport School District solar panel referendum, 2009
A referendum on the purchase of solar panels was on the April 21, 2009 ballot in Monmouth County, New Jersey in the borough of Keyport.[1]
This measure was approved[2]
The measure established a $3.9 million bond to pay for solar panels and roof replacements for Keyport High School, Keyport Central School, and the Keyport administrative office. The state would fund 45.7% of Keyport's debt service for the project. Additionally, the district will sell energy credits back to the state for excess energy the buildings generate.
